Question About 2 months ago I purchased a Money tree at a local seconds plant store. It looked healthy and hardy so I bought it. His name is Henry and stands about 6 ft. tall.
When we first brought him home we transplanted him into a new ceramic pot and I watered him once a week. New growth started and I was excited he was happy in his new home. Until....
His older leaves turned yellow and dropped off. Then I saw white mildew on the soil and on one of the trunks. The trunk looks like it is dead. The last of its leaves has just dropped off and it is brown and shriveled. When I squeeze the bottom of the trunk, it feels almost mushy. So I layed off the watering and returned him back to his original plastic pot with drainage holes. Instead of using the same soil I did previosly I puchased a succulant soil for better drainage. A few days later I noticed a scrape on another trunk (almost like it was slightly skinned), and it has mold/ mildew in it. It also is starting to feel a little mushy towards the top and middle.
Next, I was inspecting the new growth (which is rapid) and I found a sticky substance under some of the leaves.
Now, I have been trying to research these problems and driving my husband crazy trying to help save my poor tree Henry.
I live in an apartment with a balcony with no water hose. Is it a lost cause without costing too much?
Any help will be appreciated! :)

AnswerVanessa,
The only thing that will survive in a pot with no drainage holes in the bottom is water plants. It sat in a swamp for too long. Was it on the balcony? What direction does the balcony face? Set it on the balcony and do not water it until you see new growth or it collapses. If it is too late it will collapse in a mush, if not it will eventually firm up and send out new growth. It is probably too late but it is worth setting it out in the sun for awhile and see what happens. Good luck.
