QuestionI am baby-sitting someone else's plants at work - I have moved them into my office. One plant(sorry, I don't know the name/type) is easily 10-12 feet tall if it were straight. But it's not straight, it is curving at the ceiling. I want to prune the plant to about 5 to 6 feet (with the owner's knowledge), I want the plant to survive the pruning, and I am hoping that I can start a new plant from the pruned section (5-6 feet). I am particularly concerned about how to treat the existing plant at the cut. I do not have ready access to a plant store. And what is the best approach to get the trimmed section to live and take root? Can you provide any advice and "dos and don'ts"?
Thank you very much.

AnswerHi Bruce,
I could make some educated guesses as to what kind of plant you are caring for, but they would only be guesses. I really need to know for sure just what kind of plant you have if I am to help you properly.
It would be best if you could email a photo of the plant to me at
[email protected].
Otherwise, please provide a detailed description of the plant, including leaf shape and size, number of stems growing from the soil, and thickness of those stems. Any other distinguishing characteristics would also be helpful.
