plant damaged by cat

Question
i have an african jade plant which i recently discovered my cat has
been chewing on. many of the leaves have teeth marks in them and
a few have been half eaten. the other leaves and the stems seem to
be doing fine, so i was wondering if i should cut off the damaged
leaves, or if the plant will take care of itself. thanks!

Answer
Jenifer,
I'm not familiar with an 'African Jade plant', but I would assume it is similar to the jade which is a succulent.  The plant will NOT regenerate itself.  You can leave the leaves as they are and they will scab over.  But, for looks you will probably want to cut them off.  Actually, if you wish for the plant to grow fuller you can cut (or pinch) the tips of the stems off.  Being a jade it will grow very slowly, but it will grow.

I checked my list to make sure that this is not a toxic plant for people and pets.  Thankfully, it is alright.
