QuestionI know that many popular plants are listed as dangerous in some spots and not in others. Is there a definitive source for this information? What about the safety of Wandering Jew, Peace Lily, Draceana, orchids, pothos, philodendron?
Thank you.
Karrie
AnswerHi Karrie,
Unfortunately there is no coordination of effort among the various groups that list toxic plants. Part of the problem is that there is variation in quantity of plant ingested before toxicity occurs. In addition, some pets react differently than others to the same plant. Pet size may also be a factor.
Below are the sites that I most frequently refer to, but they are not final authorities and common sense has to prevail.
ASPCA Poison Control Center: List of toxic plants: http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pro_apcc_toxicplants
ASPCA Poison Control Center: List of non-toxic plants:

Cornell University: http://www.ansci.cornell.edu/plants/
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
