HI there,
    I'm also going through the majesty palm madness.  This is the second pair I've bought.  The first pair died so quickly and I thought it was because I did not repot the immediately or that I had them near almost under the air vent.
The second pair is already browning.  What IS a good indoor palm plant that stands as high and will give the room the tropical feel I'm aiming for.  I'm trying to avoid going silk.  Help Please!  Thanks!

Don't feel badly. No one has success with the majesty palm. It should be banned from the market, in my opinion!

Majesty palm is popular because unlike any other palm, it grows fast so it is relatively cheap. Other palms grow slowly and are very expensive to get to a good size. The best of the large (and expensive) palms that don't require a lot of light are the Kentia palm and the Rhapis palm. A much smaller, less expensive palm is the parlor palm (Chamaedorea).
