QuestionHI Will,
I am a teacher in PA and have just been moved from a classroom with an abundance of light to a small office with no light. I am troubled as I need to find plants that require no sunlight, if they exist. There are flourescent lights in the room. Is there anything out there that could thrive in this type of environment? Please help!
Thank you!
Amy
AnswerHi Amy,
Forget your troubles, there are a number of plants that thrive with just indoor overhead fluorescent lighting, as long as those lights are on for about 8 hours, 5 days per week at a minimum. That means if you go on vacation for a week, someone will have to be sure to turn on the lights in your absence.
I care for lots of plants in "inner offices' without windows. Here are my favorites for this location: Pothos, Philodendron, Chinese evergreen, Parlor palm, ZZ plant, Peace lily, Dracaena 'Janet Craig', Dracaena 'Lisa,' and Corn plant.
I have written an article on low light plants that I will email to you if you send a request to my address below.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
