QuestionI have a peace lily and it's bloom are dying. how and when do i prune them because it is a beautiful plan and i've had it since last sept., and that's a milestone for me. No green thumb here!
AnswerJodi,
Prune it when it turns green or brown. Cut the stem of the flower as low as you can where the stm comes out of a leaf stem. To keep it blooming sprinkle a tablespoon of epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) on the surface of the soil, then water it. Also, fertilize it once a month with a bloom building fertilizer.
Congratulations on keeping it healthy for so long. If it's any consolation I still kill a few plants each year and I have been a master gardener for 17 years. I love plants so I keep at it even though I have one die every once in awhile. If you have any more questions feel free to write again.
