Spineless Yucca care

Question
I have a Spineless Yucca that is about 3ft tall.  It's in a moderate sized pot, not too large and not to small for it's size.  I have it facing the west window so it's getting a fair amount of sunlight.  About a year ago my dog used it as a teething toy and chewed pieces off where the leaves come off the stalk.  There is new growth out of the top so I know he hasn't harmed it too much. What I would like to know is will the parts he chewed off grow back?  Also would it just be best to propagate it and how?

Answer
Tricia,

Is it just the oeaves the dog chewed on?  In that case you can pull the damaged leaves off and that will reveal a beautiful trunk. If the trunk is also damaged you need to cut the top off and insert it in a fresh pot of soil and it should root in about a mnth. Do not pitch the lower part, just cut off the damaged part and it will grow a whole new top. The plant will not regrow the chewed parts. To keep your dog away from it in the future you might want to spread a bottle of cayenne pepper on top of the soil around the plant.

Good luck.
