QuestionHi, I am new to Gardening in general and I have been given a Peace Lily in a woven type container I have no Idea how to really take care of it? : ) I have it in my breakfast room with little to no filtered sun and am watering it weekly. My question is my step mom gave it to me and she has baddd sinuses and cut of the blooms about 3 inches or so down. So now all I have is foliage and I am wondering will new blooms come from the same stems or will it produce new stems?? Also, do I need to fertilize it, move it to more sun, or water it more??? Thanks so much
Kalyn
AnswerHi Kalyn,
Peace lilies like lots of bright indirect light, such as you get on a north windowsill, so move yours to a brighter location.
Do not move it into a larger pot.
Water it whenever the soil surface feels almost dry or it starts to wilt, whichever comes first.
You can fertilize it monthly at half the recommended strength on the label or not at all.
New flowers will emerge from new stems, not from old ones, which can be removed entirely.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
