ANGEL WINGED BEGONIAS

Question
I OWN A LARGE ANGEL WING BEGONIA  I HAS NEW GROWTH,BUT THE MOTHER PLANT NOW APPOX.15 -20 YEARS OLD  NEEDS A NEW START WHAT DO I DO AND CAN THE MOTHER STILL BE SAVED

Answer
Bea,

Why do you say that it needs a new start? Is it woody? When did it last bloom?

You can use it to take cuttings and start 2-3 new plants. Then if you really want to save the original you can cut it down to withing 6-8 inches of the soil then let it grow back up. That will renew it. I would also give it about 1/2 cup of epsom salts sprinkled on top of the soil and a dose of bloom building fertilizer.

If you don't want to be so drastic just cut it back a  bit and give it the epsom salts and fertilizer. Good luck.
