QuestionHi, supposedly this plant is easy to grow, and usually I can grow anything.. but.. apparently not:) I have been doing some reading and I think I have a couple of problems with it. I think it
needs more light and possibly a more peat rich soil. oh, by the way it is indoors. The leaves are very small, and yellow and it is very very spindly. I repotted it about a year ago, but think it is the wrong kind of soil, it was just the "miracle grow potting soil". That didn't help, so I cut it back hoping that would make it a bit bushier, but no help.. it just seems to be getting worse. I am wondering if I should re-pot it with better soil.. and keep it moister or if I should just get as many cuttings from it as I can and root them and see if I can just start over. What do you think? repot or just root the cuttings?
AnswerHeck why not try both. It sounds like it has nitrogen lock to me. That is when the soil is too acidic and the plant can no longer take up nitrogen.
At the very least you should repot. Taking cuttings would not be a bad idea. Just in case it does not snap out of it.
Feed with a high nitrogen fertlizer about every other feeding and that should help. I use fish emulsion on my own plants once a month and they love it. You can also use seaweed extract. They love that as well.
I hope this helps you.
Happy growing!
