QuestionThis "silly " aloe that I'm speaking about is approximately 35 years old. It has now "flowered" for the first time ever! Technically we're still waiting for it to bloom but I know this is almost unheard of! It's a long, strong stem and at the top it has about 10-12 little things on it. It looks almost exactly like a wildflower that's purple. As it blooms I can email a picture but we were all very curious (and excited) about this. Any information would be helpful! Thanks!
AnswerHi Jackee,
Congratulations on your flowering Aloe. You have waited a long time! If you continue to do what you have been doing and resist any temptation to repot or relocate it, then you may find that it flowers more regularly for you in the future.
Aloes are in the Lily family, so it is not uncommon for them to flower. However it is unusual for then to flower when kept indoors where they don't usually get enough light.
I would love to see a photo. You can email it to me at my address below.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
