Question -
I have some plants which are commonly known as either hot or warm water plants.  They propogate by corms and the variety I have have loads of purple flowers although I know they do come in pink and in yellow.  Can you help me with the scientific name of these please so that I can find out more information about them?

Thanks
Margaret
Answer - Sorry I do not have a picture.  They flower May - Sept and are house plants.  You are meant to plant them in ericaceous compost -if that is any help.  Each plant from one corm grows to about 12 inches but tends to flop down over the side of the pot.  I usually plant 3 or 4 corms in one 6 inch pot.  The plant dies off each year and I get 15 - 20 corms from a plant.  They like sunny positions.
Margaret,

Sorry, I have never heard of hot or warm water plants. Are they garden plants or house plants?  If you send me a digital jpg picture of them I am sure I can identify them for you.  Send the picture to [email protected]

Answer
Margaret,

I'm going to give you three quesses. Zephranthes (rain lilly), cyclamen, or begonias. Go to Google.com and put each name in then click on images and see if one of those is your plant. If none of those are your plant please give me more information about the foliage. Please let me know if one of these is your plant. Also, where do you live, just the city so I know your climate. Hope this helps.

Darlene
