QuestionHello,
I recently got a little minature rose bush as a present, and don't want it to die as most of my plants do. I'm not sure the exact type, but its very small, the pot is about 8cm in diameter and the plant is about 20cm tall, with 3/4 dark red buds and dark green foliage. Both the buds and the leaves are really small, so i thnk its some kind of minature.Any help with the general care of it would be appreciated.
Thanx!
AnswerEmma,
If it does not drop below freezing where you are at the rose would do best outdoors. If your climate drops below freezing you need to keep it indoors but keep it in the sunniest location possible and the coolest location. A cool sun porch would be perfect. Be very careful to not overwater it. When it feels dry pick it up and see how heavy it is. If it is light weight it probably needs watered, if it is heavy it does not need watered.
As soon as it stays above freezing outside I suggest that you plant the rose bush in a bed outdoors. Roses are outdoor plants and need to be in the ground. It will go dormant next winter just like full size roses and will bloom each summer. Good luck with your rose bush.
