QuestionMy 'janet craig' Draceana is about 7 feet tall . It is healthy but I have to lean it against a wall to keep it from falling over. Can I cut it back to 2 or 3 feet.
Answeras long as you leave some foliage below the cut it will put off a new shoot near the end. it won't look too neat until the new shoot grows some. sounds like the pot is too small to support the foliage weight. repotting it will make it grow taller unless you prune it back. you could try to propagate the cutoff piece by airlayering it for 2-4 weeks to encourage root production before you severe it from the parent plant. then plant the new cutting(roots and all) into a pot w/good potting soil. look up airlayering on your internet search engine to see how to do it.
good luck
