QuestionI have a spineless yucca which I place outdoors in sring and bring back inside in late summer. One of the canes has leaves that are dropping a bit. They are still quite green and frimyet they don't stand erect as the leaves on the other cane ds do. Is this a sign of a problem ?
How much and how often should this plant be watered?
Also,I live in Michigan where the sun often disaapears for weeks on end and I wonder how much light is required to satisfy the plant. Btw,it sits in front of an east facing window.
Any information on the care that this palnt requires is appreciated and needed.
Thank you for your time.
Dwight
AnswerDwight,
No, I do not believe that it is a sign of a problem. It could be that that is the branch receiving the least light or the most heat from a nearby duct. I live in northern Indiana near Fort Wayne so I know exactly what you mean. It would help if you could move it to a south facing window, yuccas are desert plants and need as much sun as possible. I have one that is 24 years old and sits near an electric baseboard heater in front of a south facing window and it gets watered about every 3 weeks or when it has been very dry for several days. Mine has a few leaves that turn brown each winter and I pull them off in the spring before I move it outdoors. Removing the dried leaves reveals the beautiful trunk. Good luck with your yucca.
