QuestionDear Darlene,
I live in Northern Indiana, My daughter is getting married in early September, is there anyway to get blooms on Calla Lillies in this area during that time frame, I have outside gardens and a 12X6 green house. I also have inside plants. I dont have allot of experience with Calla's but am ready to try anything. They are a beautiful flower but a budget buster for wedding arrangments. Can you help? Cindy
AnswerCindy,
Hi! I'm near Huntertown, IN just north of Fort Wayne, where are you? Yes, you can get them to bloom when you want them too by planting them approximately 11 weeks before you want them in full bloom. To be on the safe side I would get plenty of bulbs and start some at 10 weeks, 11 weeks and 12 weeks. Here is a site that I found that sells quality bulbs to both florists and private people and there website has lots of answers to questions. I have grown calla lillies in pots but have not forced them at a specific time.

They sell different size bulbs and offer a lot of info on their site. I reccommend that you read it all and even call their 800# if you stilll have questions.
I have successfully rebloomed calla lillies for several years in a row. They need a dormancy period in the winter. They need lots of fertilizer while growing for nice big blooms. If you have more questions feel free to write again. Good luck.
