AnswerPam,
If the light is bright enough for you to read without turning a light on for at least a few hours at midday then it is bright enough for sansevieria which is the latin name for Mother in laws tongue. Indirect light is fine, it does not like full sun. If it does not get enough light it will stop growing. If you put it outdoors during the summer it needs to be out of the wind and in a very shady location. It would get severely sunburned in full sun and tore up by the wind. Sitting on a roofed front or back porch would be fine. In lower light than it has been used too you should cut back on the water it gets. It needs to be on the dry side with less light. I llive in northern Indiana and would love to live in Tennessee! What part are you in?
Good luck with your plant.
