QuestionI'm not sure of the plant's name (genus, etc.) but it looks like it could be a member of the lilly family. However, it doesn't bloom. It is about 21/2 to 3 feet in height and about 30 inches in width. The leaves are dark green and individual to each stem. Here's my question: What is causing the leaves to turn yellow/brown on the edges. Our office personnel, periodically, use scissors to trim the edges to remove the unsightly discoloration. Thanks for any help you may give.

AnswerHi Mike,
I suspect that your plant may be a peace lily, although it is not actually in the Lily family. It's botanical name is Spathiphyllum
The edges of peace lilies are very susceptible to discoloration and for many different reasons. Here are some things you should explore.
Make sure the plant never gets so dry that it wilts. Conversely, don't keep the soil constsntly soggy-wet.
Never use hard water to water it. Use filtered or distilled instead.
Be careful not to overfertilize. Either don't fertilize at all or use it at half strength monthly during the warmer months.
Finally, repotting can often cause this symptom. Peace lilies do best when they are kept potbound.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
