Questionwe have had our yucca for around 6 months and we have two trunks of differing sizes in a pot measuring approx. 9 inches high by around 7 inches across with the taller plant being around 4 feet tall and the other around 2 feet tall.Unfortunately we have noticed a gradual decline in the state of the plant. The upper plant leaves are discolouring and looking very brown and weak but the lower trunk of the pair seems to have quite strong leaves. The position of the plant is not ideal for direct sunlight but it does get plenty of daylight and it does not get over watered as far as i know ( around once a fortnight ). The plant has not been given any extra nutrients or repotted but as we are not a very green fingered couple we would appreciate any advice on what we could give the plant to perk it up or whether we should repot it. thanks.
AnswerHi Damon,
I suspect that your Yucca is not getting enough water. I think that the pot size is OK, but it would need at least weekly watering if the light is good.
First, you should set the Yucca in a saucer or tub of water for about 30 minutes. This will allow the dried out soil to wick up the water and get completely saturated. Then remove the water from the saucer and water it again when the top two inches of soil feel dry to the touch.
