Questioni have a defenbachia plant and all the lower leaves keep turning brown and falling off. i try and keep the soil moist but not wet and don't know if this is normal. Please help.
AnswerHi Dean,
There are several things that might be causing these symptoms.
You may be overwatering. Allow the top third of the soil to dry out in between waterings. Poke your finger down deep into the soil to make this determination.
Make sure your Dieffenbachia is getting lots of bright indirect light. It is best placed close to a north-facing window.
If you repotted that may be the problem. Dieffenbachias do best when left potbound in small pots.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
