QuestionI have a bed of Persian Shield, grown from pots and cuttings, here in South Florida. Half sun half shade. Lately they have lost some of the deep purple color. I assume some of this is due to the cooler temperatures here in Winter, but wonder if I can do anything to deepen the purple. Thanks.
AnswerKeefe,
I think they are absolutely beautiful, especially when I am in northern Indiana and everything is frozen. I think you have hit the nail on the head that it is probably the cooler temps and when it heats up they will bounce back. The only other thing I would suggest is that you try giving them a dose of fertilizer if you haven't latelly. If the ones that are getting more sun are brighter than the shaded ones I would try pruning the shrub that is shading them.
Good luck,
Darlene
