QuestionBefore the winter in Sacramento, CA I cut my outdoor banana tree down to about 1 1/2 feet off the ground. It was a tall, healthy plant with great big leaves, but at the start of winter everything started to droop and bend, so I cut it down to the base hoping it would re-grow in the spring. Its almost March and it doesn't look like it is going to grow again. Will it? Its ranging from about 40-70 degrees here now.
AnswerHi Tony,
I'm sorry, but my area of expertise is limited to indoor potted plants where the environment is more controlled. That said, I do believe that your local climate is too cold for the Musa species.
Perhaps a tropical plant expert who deals with plants in their native habitats can help you.
