Propagating Dieffenbachia

Question
Hi Will
Me again, Derya. I had a problem with my dieffenbachia (Tropic Snow) I cehecked the roots. Some of them were mushy and brown. The rest was white. And there were lots of gray warm type of things in the soul. What I did was is to cut the sick roots, yellow leaves, and change the soil. However it is still loosing leaves. I think it is not going to survive. So, I want to do is propagate it. Can give me some suggestions how to do it?
ThankS
DERYA

Answer
Hi Derya,

I am sorry you discovered some root rot, but I think you are doing the right thing.

Dieffenbachias can be propagated by cutting the stem or stems about two inches below the lowest leaves. You can then root these stems in plain water until they have roots at least an inch long. After that, they can be moved into small pots filled with a damp, peat-based potting mix. Keep the cuttings in a bright location that is protected from direct sun.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
