QuestionI won what I am told is a corkscrew junkus at an event but no instructions for it's care. It is beautiful, I would hate to lose it. It fills it's 4" pot and I don't know whether to transplant to larger pot or not, where to put it, how much to water or feed it and what to feed it. Thanks for your help.
AnswerWynell,
Do not repot it until after April 15th and then only repot it if you remove it from its' pot and you only see roots and no soil. If you still see soil it does not need repotted until next year.
Juncus Spiralis
A small but impressive rush. Dark green, wire-like foliage grows in a tangle of curious spirals, resembling corkscrews. A warm season, irregular clump forming ornamental grass. Flowers are sparse, emerging from the sides of the foliage. Effective as a single plant in a clay pot or other container. Prefers very moist to wet conditions in full sun to part shade. Protect in hot climates by providing shallow water 1-6" over the crown. A great pond or bog plant. Does not need regular fertilization. Could use fish emulsion approximately every three months.
14-18" tall and wide
Zone 5 - 11
