QuestionHello.
I've had bamboo sticks, the type with a twirl and a sprout at the top, in a vase for about a year and it's looking lovely so a while ago I boght two new ones and placed them in another vase but one of them soon started turning yellow at the tip of the leaves and now also at the tip of the stem (or stick). What causes this and how can I prevent it from happening to my other bamboos?
Also if I wanted to have a short part of the stem to grow in a pot and have sprouts on it what soil, how much watering and what type of fertilizer should I use?
Also any other bamboo tips would be nice.
AnswerKerstin,
Lucky bamboo is not true bamboo. It is Dracaena sanderiana.
It will not grow in soil, it will rot. Yellow leaves are caused by too much light or sun and yellow leaves should be pinched off. The following sites have more info. Good luck.
