QuestionHI;
I just bought a 3 tier floralight a week ago. I have put many
small plants under the lights. The jade plants love the light. I
have the lights on approx. 16 hours a day - 2, four foot aglights
in each fixture. I have noticed that one of the cactus type plants
I'll send you a picture if necessary, the plant is aprox 7 inches
tall and reaches 2 inches below the light. I have noticed that the
tips of the plant seem to be getting bleached and slightly
browned. is the plant getting too much light. The cactus has 5
stems, actually succulant type leaves coming off the stem all the
way up I also ran into the
same problem with my lucky bamboo. I put the bamboo from
indirect light to directly in front of a south-west window. I live
in zone 5a. Is it also getting too much light?
thanx in advance.
Peter
AnswerHi Peter,
Your cactus is probably getting more light than it did previously so that is why it is bleaching out. I suggest that you put it a bit further away from the tubes or slightly off to the side.
Your lucky bamboo is a Dracaena sanderiana cutting. It does not tolerate direct sun very well, so a southwest exposure is too much sun for it. It would do better on a north windowsill or under the grow lights.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
