PROBLEM WITH PLANT

Question
My asparagus fern stayed out on my patio all summer, and became so lush and lovely that it truly was breathtaking.  Now that I've brought it inside, one by one the fronds are starting to turn yellow.  There isn't a lot of leaf drop yet, but I know it's coming. I'm watering it properly, I think, and providing as much humidity as possible. I admit that it needs higher light than it is getting, and that is most likely the problem.  Is that what you think?  What else should I do for it other than moving it into bright light?  Do I need to prune it back?  Also, this plant has 3 crowns and is very, very root-bound with multiple little bulbs or "tubers" around the roots.  If I divide it into 2-3 smaller plants it will be easier for me to move to a brighter spot.  Can I divide it safely without hurting it? Or, should I leave it alone?? My LAST question is: What to do with those little white bulb-like tuber things that grow near the roots?  They are very abundant. Any info will be greatly appreciated, I mean GREATLY!  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Patti
I agree, your plant does need more light, that will cause the stems to turn yellow.  An asparagus fern is not a fern in the true sense of the word, they are actually in the asparagus family.   You should be able to divide it without hurting the plant, just carefully pull apart.  Leave the root tubers alone, they are a part of the root system.
When you repot, water with vitamin b-1.  This will keep it from going into shock.
Good Luck, I am just starting out with an asparagus fern myself for the first time!
