QuestionI have a plant and I am not sure what it is- but it hase big green leafly leaves with dark green lines in it and is kind of purplish on the back of the leaves. I keep in inside, however the leaves started to turn brown on the ends. I put it outside for the summer and it did rather well- spurting news leaves. I have brought it back inside and now the ends of the leaves are turning brown again. I water it once a week and keep it next to the window for light. Any suggestions?

AnswerHi Jennifer
I am just guessing as to the type of plant you have and by your description, I would say it is sometype of a 'Calathea', possibly a zebrina or veitchiana . See if you can get to this site to see;

Anyway, it sounds as if your plant is not getting enough humidity inside of the house, either that or there is too much heat by the window.
Both of those would cause the edges of the leaves to turn brown.
Try setting the plant in a saucer filled with pebbles and keep that filled with water. That will create more humidity around the plant.
Good Luck Jennifer!
