Clear Worms on my house plants

Question
I have noticed an abundance of very small clear worms in a few of my house plants, they seem to just be on the top of the soil. I am not quite sure what they are, or how to kill them. I was unable to find any information about these worms anywhere else on the internet.

Answer
Hi Cristy
Boy oh boy, you got me!  I have no idea as to what these worms are.  I want to say some type of a grub and because of the lack of light, have no color?  Anyway, I really do not think they will hurt your plant at all, but I would not want worms in my house either!
You can try 1-2 tbl. insecticidal soap/gallon of water.  You can buy this at your local nursery.  Also, you can try watering with a mixture of Tabasco sauce, rubbing alcohol, dish soap and water.  This will kill them off too.
Have you repotted your plant?  Sometimes the soils you buy in stores are not sterilized.  Also, just like food products, sitting on the shelves things will get into the bags.  Try baking your soil in a foil casserole dish at 350 for about 15 minutes, then letting cool before potting.  This will kill off anything growing in there.
Good Luck Cristy!
Leslie
