Pepperomia?

Question
I bought a plant from the University Greenhouse last year. The tag says Pepperomia, but it doesn't look like any of the pictures I've seen. It is not a vine. It has thick leaves, about 1-1 1/2 inch wide by about 2 inches long, and it has grown to be about 1.5 feet tall. I put it the kitchen that faces north and it constantly grows toward the sun. It loves water and I find it dry and in need of water every other day.  I put it in direct sunlight last week and I can't tell if it is growing towards it or away from it. If I could Identify this plant, it would help. The leaves are smooth and solid green, with a very thick stalk.

Answer
Pam,

I'm pretty sure that your plant is a peperomia. There are many varieties of peperomia,I suspect yours is Peperomia obtusifolia. Go to the following website and look at the pictures that come up. You can skip to Peperomia obtusifolia first and if that is not it you can look at the rest. Yours probably doesn't have the flower stalks as in the picture so focus on the leaves and ignore the bloom stalks. That takes a few years.

What university?  If you have more questions after identifying it write again. Good luck.
