OK, there is something very...

Question
OK, there is something very funky going on with my bamboo. It's not actually bamboo- per say, its "lucky bamboo" that I got from a market vendor for $1, but hey, I liked it! Anyway, it's three stalks of bamboo. I have them in the shade and in water with pebbles. The smallest stalk turned brown, shriveled up and has raised black very unhealthy looking scars on it- however; the top leaf is still perfectly green and healthy (or so I think). Why is it dying and what can I do to fix it? Both the other stalks are fine. I'm new to gardening/plants & such, but want to do it the organic way.

Thank you so much for your help!

PEACE

Answer
Kelsey,

Lucky bamboo is not bamboo but is Dracaena Sanderiana. As such it does not like soft water or water with flouride or chlorine in it. Just good clean water is best. With a tiny bit of fertilizer but be careful not to over fertilze.

It also does not like too much sun or cold temps.  So don't leave it sit next to an air conditioning duct.

I would cut away the black parts of the bad stalk. You can put the top part that is still green down in the water.
Below are 3 websites that you can check out for more info. Good luck.
