QuestionI've had this plant since 1971. It hasn't grown much in all this time (33 years) but has generally been very healthy. I water it once in 2 weeks more or less as needed. Someone has been sitting for my cat and I fear may have overwatered it although I doubt it as I didn't notice that right away and have been back for 3 weeks. It doesn't appear to have any bugs. It sits on stones so today I watered the stones and sprayed the leaves a little as well as opened the window to get a slight dirty breeze. What to do?????
It faces North and sits by the window on the 2nd of 6 floors surrounded by other buildings so it gets light but not much sun. Photos have been sent to you. Thank you so much.
AnswerBarbara,
Your plant is a philodendron selloum. It appears to me that it needs more water and a dose of fertilizer. These plants use water up fairly fast. Mine sits outside during the summer under a thick spruce tree so it doesn't get much sun either. I water it every other day during the summer when it is growing and weekly during the winter when it is indoors and semi dormant. Give it a little more water and let me know if it perks up. Good luck.
