Question
My houseplant palm has been slowly dying and then now I noticed there is this weird fuzzy like green stalks growing out of the middle of the trunk. What is happening to my plant????

Hi Lainey,

There are many different kinds of palms with very different needs. I cannot diagnose the problem without knowing just what kind (species) of palm you have. If you can-e-mail a photo to me (use my address below), I can ID it for you and also diagnose the problem.

Otherwise you will have to ID it elsewhere and then send me a detailed description of the symptoms and also describe the light and water it gets, as well as its height and pot size.

The green stalks that you referred to may be the flowers and seeds that palms sometimes produce.
