QuestionI don't know the original name of the plant. It has a stem with long green leaves, it looks like vains in the leave. The blooms comes out the vains of the leaves on a long stem with a round white flower that opens up one time at night. The open bloom has a cotton looking center with a small stem at one end with a small yellow place on the end that looks like a star. The flower closes up before morning and falls down than drops off. I would like to know how to take care of the plant.
AnswerHi Vickie,
I have never heard of a plant by that name and I cannot tell from your description just what it is. It might be a Passiflora, but I would need more informaton to be sure.
If you can e-mail a photo to me at
[email protected], that would help enormously. Otherwise, please send more specific details.
Does the stem grow out of the ground with the leaves attached directly to the stem?
Is there only one stem growing out of the ground or many?
Is this a long vining type plant?
Can you describe the stem? Length, thickness, color. etc.
What is the shape of the leaves? How long and how wide are they? Are they all green, top and bottom?
Do the leaf veins run the length of the leaves or are they v-shaped. Are the veins a different color?
How wide is the flower when it is open?
Does this plant grow indoors in a pot or outdoors in the ground?

Will Creed
