QuestionI have a spider plant that was looking good and has on spider arm hanging but now it looks yucky and limp, all my plants started from 4 inch I replanted them in 6-8inch pots with new soil and gave them water (last year) and they look like they have grown a bit but not much...I think they have stopped. Also I bought a Patio Tomatoe, and eversweet strawberries (4inch) and some false sunflowers and Springstars. Um...I water them well, maybe too well I don't know.. but also the soil on the top gets dry fast and crumbly while the plant pot remains pretty heavy. Most of my leaf tips are yellow or do not look like they are growing. I am a beginner, please help. Oh..I also bought some spikes and my son (5) started a Begonia for me from school. Thanks.
AnswerHi Shannon,
Spider plants should be in a sunny window all year long. they need lots of sun to grow big and healthy. Proper watering is also important. Always water thoroughly (until a little water runs through the drainage holes) a soon as the surface of the soil feels dry. The top of the soil always dries out first. If you have been waiting for the soil all the way down in the pot to get dry, then you are waiting too long.
When your spider plant dries out every day or two, then it is time to move it into a larger pot.
The other plants that you mentioned are not indoor plants and are outside my area of expertise. Perhaps a garden expert can help you.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
