Fungus looking growth on potted tree

Question
Hey Will!

thanks for you answer, it was most helpful...though I am dissapointed to hear that there's no cure for this. I always try to take good care of my plants, I do most of the plant work around my parents house actualy. But my tree has been losing alot of leaves which concerns me...if I do have to discard him, though it breaks my heart to even consider that...what can I do to avoid a repeat of this occuring if I get another Ficus? This does upset me a bit, I tried to make sure he got enough light and water maybe my room just was'nt the right atmosphere for him.

thanks again for your help
-Kenny

Answer
Hi Kenny,

Gall on Ficus trees is invariably a result of poor horticultural practices by the nursery grower. The infection was in the plant long before you purchased it. So don't blame yourself because there is nothing you could have done.

Regards,
Will Creed

P.S. Thanks for the very positive rating! I wish my diagnosis could have been as positive.
