QuestionMy neighbor has a large tree in her living room. She gave
me a cutting to grow my own. She called it a Black
Auralia.have you ever heard of such a thing? Her tree is
about six foot, and looks almost artificial. The leaves are
roundish in shape and some what wrinkly looking. I can
email a photo of my cutting to you if needed. My cutting is
flourishing nicely. The name of the plant is what throws me
off.I would info on the proper care for it.Thanks!
AnswerHi Kelly,
Black aralia is more commonly known as Ming aralia. Its botanical name is Polyscias.
It does best in front of a window that faces north, east, or west. Some direct sunlight is good, but it should not get hot sun all day long. Allow the top quarter of the soil to dry before watering thoroughly. It does best when kept moderately potbound in a small pot. It is a slow grower so it rarely need fertilizer.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
