QuestionMy neighbor has some eggs in her house plants that we can't figure out just what they are. They are in all of her plants. All the plants are diferent typs and locations within her house. The eggs are about 1/8" in diamiter. They are amber in color and almost transparent. When you hold them up to the light you can see a almost white substance inside. When you roll it in your fingers you can see the white substance shift inside. We were woundering if just changing the soil will get rid of them or if we need to do something to trea for them. Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing you opinion of our problem.
AnswerHi Phillip,
Unless there is a miniature Easter bunny living in your neighbor's house, your neighbor has nothing to be concerned about.
Those "eggs" are actually slow release fertilizer pellets that were probably added to the soil by the nursery grower. A small amount of nutrients is released from them each time the plants are watered. So there is no need to remove them or to replace the soil.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
