QuestionI have a calla lilly in a 10 in. pot given to me by a friend & have no idea what to do with it. I live in So. Texas & have the plant ouside on my patio. Should the soil stay moist & how about sunlight?
Thanks!
Sue
AnswerSue,
Yes, calla lillies like moist soil, they are native to the edges of swamps. They prefer growing in full sun all day long and should not mind the heat of south Texas. If it never freezes where you live it can be planted in the ground at the edge of a pond and it should bloom every summer. If you don't have a pond plant it in a location where you can water it regularly. You might even plant it in the ground in a dishpan with no holes cut in the bottom so it stays moist longer. Fertilize it at least once a month. I love calla lillies. Enjoy yours. Good luck.
