I have a blue thumbergia vine...

Question
I have a blue thumbergia vine which grew on a trellis last year (zone 6).  I took it indoors for the winter and it is alive but any growth is at the top.  How can I shape it up again for the summer.  When should I start fertilizing it again.  I will be bringing it into stronger light next week.  I didn't have very many blooms last year and would like to correct that this year.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Francine,

Thunbergia is not really a houseplant. Most people use it as an annual outside. It can be overwintered indoors if you have a cool, but sunny place to keep it. In winter, it should be given just enough water to keep it alive and no fertilizer. Prune it back sharply in early spring before new growth begins.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
