QuestionI received two houseplants while ill, and I would like to know what they are and how to care for them. They arrived in inexpensive plastic pots with holes in the bottoms. I am sending photos labelled "photo_1" and "photo_2" to
[email protected]. Thanks for your help!
Harvey
AnswerHi Harvey,
Plant #1 is a croton. They like a few hours of sun to keep the foliage colorful. The more sun the more colorful the foliage will be. They enjoy warm temperatures and soil that dries slightly in between waterings.
Plant #2 is a Schefflera arboricola. It will do well in bright light but out of full sun. It will not grow in a dark corner however. Like the croton it likes warm temps and soil that dries slightly bewteen waterings.
Both plants can be fertilzed with any soluble fertilzer formulated for foliage houseplants according to label directions.

Vito
