QuestionI need purple cymbidums for a wedding, I will be purchasing the whole cut stem, but I'm not sure how to go about dyeing the orchid. I will be using the flowers for bouquets. Should I recut the bottom and place in a floral dye, for how long? How fast does the stem absorb the dye. Or, should I dye each floret? I realize you deal mainly with plants, hopeing you can help me. Thank you.
All of the "purple" orchids I have seen, seem to be more of a wine/burgandy/pink shade.
AnswerLaurie, the purple or lavender orchids you have seen are from a plant pigment produced by the plant and not artificial. You could try to ask that question of the person or place from which you plan to purchase the cut flowers. My expertise is on growing orchid plants.
