I've got a basal keki on a phal that has no roots.  How long does it usually take to see roots on a basal keki?  How do I encourage root growth?  Will any rootting hormone work for a phal?  How should it be applied?  Directly to keki?  Thank you for your time.

Sky, rooting hormone should help get the roots started.  If the hormone is in a powder form you will need to mix it into petrolatum or Vaseline and apply it to the point where the keiki joins the mother plant. Some rooting hormones come in gel form which can be applied directly. It may also help to place it into a dark room for 7-10 days. It may take up to  month to see any roots.
