flowering

Question
Hi was wondering how you get them to flower after they've died the cut them back to about 5 inches about 5 nodes from bottom....many thanks. Michael

Answer
Michael, light which provides a slightly yellow appearance to the leaves is an indicator of light bright enough to promote flowering. If the old flower spike remains green after flowering, you can cut it off just above a node (preferably the second or third node). Just be aware that the old flower spike dies back on some phalaenopsis hybrids.  Regardless of the old flower spike, a strong plant may send up a new flower spike from its base.
