QuestionI have a beautiful orchid that has recently taken a turn for the worse... All the flowers on it have wilted and are dying and the two that are still well have what appears to be a spider web on them.. This web is also all up the stem... Do I have spider mites? What do I do!?
AnswerDerick, it sounds as if you do have spider mites. You could use Safer's Insecicidal Soap to spray on the plant. The mites are most common when the plant is air that is fairly dry as is it in thje winter in the northern climate. It also is possible that just misting the plant will discourage them. Do that in the morning. You could use a combination where you spray one day to kill the mites and then, on subsequent days, mist to discourage further infestation. After that, spray as needed.
