QuestionHi Wayne King,
I'm thinking to grow Tolumnia. Are they easy to grow? How to care them?
And I also want to know that do they flower on old spikes & on growths as well as new growths.
Thanks in advance,
Nwe Lay
AnswerNwe, I do not find tolumnias easy to grow. As you may know they are called twig epiphytes and, in the Carribean, they grow at the end of twigs where they get bathed in mist each night and are exposed to full sun in the day. They like it very warm and very bright. I have seen them grown mounted on wood slabs where they are constantly misted and where the plant dries quickly. I have also seen them grown in small clay pots in small charcoal with a small amount of moss. They bloom only on new growth. In proper light, the leaves show a reddidh sheen.
