QuestionHi Wayne, Thanks for the last answer it was very informative, another question, my plant has two or three leaves that have crinkles or folds in them, what is this and what if anything can I do. Thanks Tony "s".
AnswerTony, it is not uncommon for the thin-leaved orchids to present this problem. Usually, this is because the plant sap's flow to these leaves has been insufficient to allow them to unfold prperly. There can be several reasons for this condition. First. the roots are not being kept damp enough from insufficient watering. Secondly, the potting mix may not be water retentive anough resulting in decreased root development. Thirdly, the potting mix may have broken down from lack of repotting resullting in water retention and subsequent root rot. Most thin leaved orchids require a potting mix with fine fir bark, sponge rock or perlite, fine charcoal, fine tree fern when available. The potting mix should be screened to remove all dust or very fine particles before use. Be sure to use fairly pure water such as rainwater between feeding to flush out any salt accumulation.
