QuestionHi! Im just got intO a temporary position in San Jose, Ca and got a blooming phalaenopsis to decorate my desk. Now I know they are supposed to be near to sunlight, but my cube is in the middle of the building, under fluorescent lighting. I would really like to keep the plant alive and with flowers for at least three months (thats how long my assignment here is). After that I can take it to my regular office where there is a window nearby.
Do you have any care suggestions to make this happen? (I would be willing to bring the plant home some afternoons so it could absorb sunlight from 5-7pm). Thank you!
AnswerSol, I don't think we have a problem. The phal should do fine with the office ambient lighting. If it would make you feel more comfortable, you could purchase a florescent desk lamp and put the plant under that where it would be closer to the lighting source and hence receive more light.
