new growth on stem

Question
I have new growth on stem that also has what look like roots growing. I am fairly sure it is reproducing but am not sure what to do with it. How do i go about cutting these off and at what time because plant is still blooming?

Answer
Doris, it sounds like you have is a keiki.  This is a clone of the mother plant and can develop leaves and roots at a node (ie joint) of the flower spike. I recommend that you wait until it has roots and leaves that are at least two inches long. When ready, the keiki can be separated from the flower spike by twisting it near where it joins the flower spike.  Be careful to do this without damaging the roots or leaves. It can then be potted up as a clone of the mother plant.
